Mini Laser Distance Meter Cold Shoe Mount

I wanted a simple way to mount the laser distance meter directly on a camera while keeping the display and buttons accessible. The meter slides into the holder from the front and is guided by two rails running along the sides.

The holder also includes a flexible spring latch at the front to prevent the distance meter from sliding out accidentally. The latch can be lifted to remove the device.

My distance meter measures approximately:

Length: 56.2 mm

Width: 21.6 mm

Height: 13.63 mm

If your device has the same housing and dimensions, this mount should fit.

Printing

I recommend printing this model in PETG.

The first prototypes were printed in PLA, but PETG is better suited for the flexible locking mechanism because it is less brittle and can tolerate repeated bending better.

Suggested settings:

Material: PETG recommended

Layer height: 0.2 mm

Perimeters: 3–4

Infill: 20–30%

Supports are necessary with this prototype.

This ist Version 1.0 - Actually i'm working on a Version that is more durable (the latch is kind of flimsy), got a better fit (rounded corners) and should be printable without supports.

Fit

The holder is designed for a fairly snug fit. Actual dimensions can vary slightly depending on printer calibration, extrusion width, filament, and slicer settings.

If the fit is too tight or too loose, the included OpenSCAD file makes it easy to adjust the internal dimensions.

Notes

This is a custom mount made around the exact distance meter linked above. There are many visually similar mini laser distance meters available, but their dimensions may differ slightly.
