Slim wall-mounted frame/housing for the SEEED TRMNL 7.5" DIY kit or EN04 with 7.5" ePaper

The wall-mounted enclosure was originally designed for the TRMNL 7.5" (OG) DIY kit.

However, as I’m working with OpenDisplay, the ESP32-S3 (XIAO EE04 board) is only partially suitable for battery operation.

Fortunately, the XIAO EN04 board has the same dimensions and can be used with this case without any problems.

To screw the board in place, I used self-tapping screws measuring 2.2 x 6.5 mm.

If you switch from the XIAO EE04 board (ESP32-S3) supplied with the TRMNL 7.5" DIY kit to the much more efficient XIAO EN04 board (nRF52840), you will unfortunately also need to either adapt or replace the battery. The XIAO EE04 board has a 3-pin battery connector, whilst the XIAO EN04 board has a 2-pin connector. However, both connectors are JST PH2.0 plugs!

The battery should be no more than 8–9 mm thick. I secured it to the casing with a strip of Kapton tape to prevent it from slipping.

The 7.5" display should click into place easily in the front bezel. If you wish, you can also secure it with a few small dots of hot glue.
