Description

This is my design for an enclosure for an OnStep controller utilising a Fysetc E4 board. It incorporates mounts for the E4 board, a BME280 temperature, humidity, pressure sensor and a DS3231 real time clock. The BME280 sensor is physically isolated in an enclosure outside of the main box and the DS3231 mounts on the lid.

DS3231 is attached using M2 x 3.2 (diameter) melt nuts.

The BME280 is secured simply by melting over the posts it rests on then gluing the enclosure onto the top of the box, locating it in the grooves. Wires from the BNE280 pass through a small slot in the box top.

Note: Although the Fusion image shows the BME280 with the pins attached - I didn't use the pins. The enclosure won't accommodate them - I soldered wires straight onto the board.

The box top and the Fysetc board are secured using M3 x 4.5 (diameter) melt nuts.

There are slots for the following:

4 x RJ11 sockets, to attach the stepper motors (using sockets like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01HU7BX42?ref_=pe_151259311_1319653061_t_fed_asin_title).

2 x RCA sockets for dew heaters

Emergency stop button.

Power socket.

LED (fault slew etc).

Pinhole to access E4 reset button.

Access to SSD slot.

Access to USB socket.

The bottom of the box has partial holes for use with my EQ5 leg clips. Drill these through (or complete in Prusa for example) then you can bolt the plate on which will slot into the leg bracket. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7415848

I used this to convert my EQ5 to an OnStep controlled Goto mount driven by Nema17 steppers mounted with the excellent EQ5 Goto Nema17 Motor Bracket Set here (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4682671) modified with my RJ11 connector covers (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7414763).

Recommended to print with PETG or better. Mine was printed in PETG on a Ender 3 V2 (0.4mm nozzle).
