Anet E10 Linear Rod Holder – Crack-Resistant Remix (with optional Y End Stop tab)

A remix of the Anet E10 linear rod holder (Pezzer mod), redesigned so it no longer cracks when you tighten the mounting screws, especially in PETG.

Why the original cracks: its M4 countersinks flare to 9 mm, leaving only about 1.5 mm of plastic at the end of the 8 mm plate. A flat-head screw acts like a wedge and splits that thin edge. If the part is printed standing up, the split runs right along the layer lines.

What's changed:

The countersinks are replaced with flat-bottom counterbores for M4 button-head screws, so there's no wedging force. A plain hole + washer option is also included.

The part is designed to print lying on its back, so screw forces stay within the layers instead of pulling them apart.

The rod bore is a teardrop shape so it prints cleanly in that orientation, with a small lead-in chamfer for the rod.

Fillets are added where the boss meets the plate, and where the end-stop tab meets the plate (on the end-stop version).

What stayed the same: the footprint, the rod position (8 mm rod, 8.4 mm bore), the M4 mounting hole positions (28 mm spacing) and the end-stop switch holes (9 mm spacing). It's a drop-in replacement.

Standard holder (40 mm plate)

Extra-length holder with Y end-stop tab (48 mm plate)

A parametric OpenSCAD file is included. Set variant to standard or endstop, and set head to button, washer or countersunk (the countersunk option reproduces the original seats).

Hardware:

2× M4 button-head screws per holder, about 2 mm shorter than the flat-head screws you're replacing

2× M2 self-tapping screws for the end-stop switch (the holes are 1.9 mm; set SW_HOLE_D = 2.3 to use M2 screws with nuts instead)

Tighten until snug. The holder only needs to keep the rod from sliding.

Notes:

Low fan is the key for PETG layer strength. Dry the filament if it pops or strings.

On a stock Anet E10 hotend, don't go above 240°C. The PTFE liner runs down to the nozzle and starts to break down beyond that.
