Description

Blast Wheel – Tsunahiki Screw‑Type Tug‑of‑War Target (Custom B‑Daman Battle Mechanism)

This model is my custom Blast Wheel, a screw‑type Tsunahiki (綱引き) target inspired by the Japanese B‑Daman hobby community. In Japan, this gameplay style is known as 「綱引きバトル」 (Tsunahiki Battle / Tug‑of‑War Battle) — a competitive mode where two players rapid‑fire marbles to push a rotating target fully into the opponent’s end zone.

The Blast Wheel follows the same principles as the Japanese 「スクリューターゲット」 (Screw Target) or 「ネジ式ターゲット」 (Bolt‑type Target) used in adult hobby tournaments, but redesigned from the ground up as a modular, printable system.

🧩 Included Parts (What You Get)

This download contains every component needed to build the Blast Wheel assembly:

1. Bolt Shaft Axle (2‑Piece)

A two‑part threaded axle that the wheel travels along.

This is a resized adaptation of the bolt originally designed by fitterman100, modified for proper fit with the Blast Wheel stands.

2. Left & Right Stands

Two structural stands that the bolt shaft screws into.

Each stand includes:

Built‑in housing for a spring‑loaded flag

Button lock channel

Guides for the housing pins

These stands anchor the entire mechanism and provide the Tsunahiki end‑zone indicators.

3. Housing Pins (3 Total)

1 slightly larger pin locks the flag + spring assembly

2 pins secure the button lock system

These pins ensure smooth operation and prevent accidental release during gameplay.

4. Blast Wheel Nut (5‑Flipper Design)

A custom nut featuring five parallel flippers.

Each marble strike rotates the nut and drives it down the threaded axle — the core mechanic of Tsunahiki tug‑of‑war battles.

5. Torsion Spring Recommendation

For the flag mechanism, a 1×5×4×30 torsion spring (45°) is recommended.

This provides the correct tension for the flag pop‑up indicator.

🎮 How the Blast Wheel Works

The Blast Wheel is a mechanical tug‑of‑war target:

The nut sits on the threaded bolt shaft.

Players fire marbles at the flippers.

Each hit rotates the nut and screws it forward.

The nut travels toward one player’s stand or the other.

The winner is whoever pushes the nut fully into the opponent’s zone, triggering the spring‑loaded flag.

This system tests rapid‑fire speed (連射力) and torque/power (締め撃ち) — the same performance metrics valued in Japanese B‑Daman tournaments.

⚙️ Print Notes

PLA or PETG recommended

0.2 mm layer height

Supports may be required depending on printer tolerance

Pins are reccomended to be printed horizontally for strength.

Bolt shaft is reccomended to be printed vertically

🛠️ Assembly:

Print two identical screw‑shaft pieces. Lightly sand one end of each shaft, then glue the ends together while ensuring perfect alignment along the threaded axis.

For the stands, insert the flag with your torsion spring installed inside it. Then insert the button, making sure the hooks face outward, away from the screw‑shaft opening. Slide the housing pins into their respective holes so they pass through both the flag and button mechanisms, locking them securely in place. Add the end caps to the pins — a small amount of glue is recommended to permanently secure them. Pliers can snap the caps if you want to remove later.

Once both stands are fully assembled, screw the axle into one stand, thread on the Blast Wheel nut, and then screw the second stand onto the opposite end of the axle to complete the build.
