Next Level Racing 2x4 Cockpit Bracket

I bought the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 knowing it had an extension that I could buy later on when I found a more dedicated spot. What I didn't know, was it comes with its own seat, but I have my heart set on another and they don't provide any option other than the one and no you can't buy just the frame.

I've seen plenty of 2x4 sim rigs and thou basic they can look really good. I wanted to incorporate my new cockpit extension without drilling into it or doing some janky clamp thingy.

You can mount this to almost any height as it just follows the arm up & down to the lower bar (keep in mind it's unable to go flush to the floor). It's up to you to decide at what height you'd like to sit at, just tighten up the back two bolts to lock it in. I choose the lowest it would go. I also reversed the angle of the pedal plate by swapping the angle brackets for better ergonomics.

I made it so it had enough room to house all my wiring and a small subwoofer under the seat. At first I had the seat mounted using wood inserts. What a giant p.i.t.a.! Placing anything under the seat required its removal, and there's very little room for tools so I had to modify a little. To make things easier I removed the center of the front 2x4 & I narfed out some wood to accept some 2020 Aluminum. It works but the M5 bolts are smaller than I'd like. If I were to update it again, I'd go with some 2040 instead. (I've included a mockup of the frame I made)

I'm not using the shifter plate yet so I had a lot of leftover hardware. This is designed around their nuts & bolts.

Hardware:

(4) M8 x 55mm Bolts

(4) M8 Nuts (used backwards)

(2) 3/8" x 3" Bolts with matching Washers & Nyloc Nuts (I went with stainless)

these next are optional and dependent on the height you want to sit
