Cut a bevel on the end...since this is going to be supporting some weight...I printed it with 3 shells, but 99% concentric infill, even solid it only uses approx 39M of filament

Print it with the flat of the notch along the bed, this way layer lines are not inline with the stresses, they will be at an angle greater than 0, but less than 90 of the shear directions
