Pool Robot Weight prevents navigation problems





Description
Our pool robot has a recurring issue where the front end starts to lift and float slightly whenever the filter gets somewhat full. This causes it to lose contact with the pool floor and essentially clean in one spot, as its navigation system goes haywire. To address this, I designed a weight attachment that can be easily mounted using two suction cups. When looking for a suitable flat weight at the hardware store, I came across large, heavy stainless steel washers (fender washers)—specifically ISO 7093 / DIN 9021.
I therefore designed the base plate for M20 and M24 sizes to accommodate either one or two stacked washers. The M20 version has an inner diameter of 22 mm, an outer diameter of 60 mm, and a height of 4 mm, weight 70g. The M24 version has an inner diameter of 26 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm, and a height of 5 mm, weight 140g. The cap is compatible with all sizes. Eight 4 mm stainless steel countersunk screws (length 10... mm) are used to secure it to the base plate.
The 30mm suction cups with M4 threaded studs are available cheaply everywhere. The transparent cap/nut of the suction cup is not required. After printing the base plate, only the two M4 threads for the suction cups need to be tapped using an M4 tap.
I use this weight only on the front of the pool robot—above the front brush or roller (2x M24 wascher, corresponds to approximately 280g) —and exclusively for floor cleaning. When cleaning walls, the altered center of gravity can cause the unit to tip over.

Base + Cap: 100% infill , 5 walls, no support. !!! Important!!! With 100% infill, because infill would create buoyancy again.
