Description

Rigid ADXL345 Accelerometer Mounts for Ender 3 & Ender 3 V2

A set of rigid, high-performance mounts designed to attach an ADXL345 accelerometer to the print bed (Y-axis) and the toolhead/nozzle carriage (X-axis) for Klipper Input Shaper calibration.

These mounts are optimized to be printed in PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) or PC-PBT for maximum rigidity and temperature resistance, ensuring highly accurate resonance testing.

🚀 Why Print These in PBT / PC-PBT?

For Input Shaper resonance testing to be accurate, the sensor mounts must not flex. Standard PLA or PETG mounts can introduce "phantom resonance" (false vibration peaks) due to material flexing.

Extreme Rigidity: PBT has a high tensile modulus and stiffness, ensuring the sensor measures only the printer's true kinematics.

High Thermal Resistance: Testing should ideally be done with a heated bed and hotend at operating temperatures. PBT resists heat deformation, meaning the nozzle mount will not soften or flex near the hotend during calibration.

🛠️ Features & Hardware Required

Nozzle Mount (X-Axis - Crucial Placement): Designed to mount directly to the toolhead carriage (specifically compatible with the popular Micro Swiss Direct Drive Extruder).

> [!NOTE]

> Why mount directly near the nozzle?

> Ringing and ghosting artifacts are caused by vibrations right at the nozzle tip where filament is extruded. Mounting the ADXL345 as close to the nozzle as possible ensures the accelerometer captures the actual vibrations affecting the print, including any resonance or play in the carriage, extruder, and hotend assembly.

Bed Mount (Y-Axis): Mounts securely to the bed carriage or bed screws/leveling dials, positioning the sensor flat and centered.

Sensor Holes: Pre-spaced for standard ADXL345 breakout boards.

🔩 Required Hardware:

For Bed Mount:

`1x` M4 Threaded Insert / Wood Insert (4mm outer diameter / M4 internal thread)

`1x` M4 x 20mm Screw

For ADXL345 Sensor: Standard mounting hardware (typically M3 or M2.5 screws depending on your specific board version).

🖨️ Recommended Print Settings (Optimized for PBT)

These mounts should be printed with high infill and no cooling fan to ensure maximum strength and zero warping.

Filament Material: PBT or PC-PBT

Nozzle Temperature: `250°C`

Bed Temperature: `80°C`

Layer Height: `0.2 mm`

Print Speed: `45 mm/s` (Outer Wall: `25 mm/s`, Inner Wall: `35 mm/s`)

Infill Density: `20% - 50%` (higher is better for rigidity)

Infill Pattern: `Gyroid` (provides uniform stiffness in all directions)

Cooling Fan Speed: `0%` (keep fan turned off to prevent warping and maximize layer adhesion)

Retraction: `0.8 mm` at `35 mm/s` (configured for Direct Drive extruders)

Bed Adhesion: `Brim (8 mm width)` recommended to prevent corner lift
