Minimalistic Fujifilm X-mount lens and camera caps

Thin lens cap & camera cap for the Fuji X mount system.

I bought a set of two extension tubes for my camera (i.e., rings that move the lens away from the camera, allowing focusing on nearer objects), and these came with one set of generic caps that are relatively huge for the tubes themselves.

Most caps are big and sturdy to protect fragile optics, but the extension tubes have no optics... My priority was rather to have solid caps that keep dust away but are small and lightweight. And the caps go on both ends of the tubes. I couldn't find a design that would satisfy me, especially for the camera cap, so I made this thing.

Each cap has two parts that screw together, which enables printing with no supports. The thread between parts should be tight (if it's too tight, scale along the XY or customize the SCAD files). If you fear that the parts can separate, you may just glue them together.

To screw on the lens cap easily, place the inner part on a flat surface and screw the outer part on it (while pressing down the inner part with your fingers). For the camera cap, the threads align easily without any tricks.

I also uploaded the camera cap design that prints as a single part. This one needs supports and is generally harder to print and likely needs post-processing. Hence, I favored the two-part solution.

The lens cap is deliberately thin. Notice that some lenses have parts that protrude past the mount! If you intend to use the cap on such lenses, print the slightly thicker (by 2mm) cap I also uploaded, or customize the scad file to choose the internal depth of the cap.

I printed the caps out of PET-G with a 0.5 mm nozzle and a 0.1mm layer height, without supports. The layer height is quite crucial, as the thread that keeps the parts together is quite fine.
