Description

To overcome the MechArm 270's limited 270 mm workspace, the robotic arm is mounted on a custom motorized linear rail, adding an extra axis of motion for accessing multiple component trays and the assembly station. The platform is constructed using an aluminum profile frame, precision linear guide, stepper motor, and custom 3D-printed mounting parts for accurate and stable movement. A limit switch provides repeatable homing during startup, while a cable drag chain safely manages power, communication, and vacuum lines throughout continuous operation. This extended motion enables the robotic arm to move between pickup locations without repositioning workpieces, improving the efficiency and repeatability of the automated assembly process.
