Description

I wnated to monitor the polluants in my printer's enclosure, so I designed a custom box to fit a DF Robot BME680 sensor (SEN0248) and a PM 2.5sensor (SEN0460).

The box mounts at the back of the printer. The PM2.5 has a built in fan, so it sucks air from one logo over the BME680 sensor and exhausts if through the other logo.

BOM:

  • Qty. 1 DF Robot BME680 sensor (SEN0248)
  • Qty. 1 DF Robot PM 2.5sensor (SEN0460)
  • Qty. 1 5 wire shielded cable, 1m long. Alternatively, 1 USB cable with an other 5v wire.
  • Qty. 6 M3x20 bolts
  • Qty. 6 M3 heat set insert
  • Qty. 2 M3x8 bolts with thei associated Tnuts.

Assembly:

  • Install the qty. 6 heat set inserts in the base part.
  • Prepare your cable.

/!\ CAUTION /!\

- The DF Robot PM2.5 sensor requires 5V supply but it uses 3.3V I2C logic

- The DF Robot BME680 sensor accepts 3.3V or 5V supply but the I2C logic is the same voltage as the supply

=> To connect directly to a raspberry pi, you need: GND, +5V, +3.3V, 2 I2C lines

  • Insert the cable in the base, there is a hole at the top, the cable will exit directly in the 2020 extrusion groove.
  • Insert the qty. 6 M3x20 bolts in the cover
  • Slide the sensors on these blots.
  • Screw the cover with the sensors in the base. (The sensors will be clamped into place)
  • Install the assembly on the printer. The cables fits in the extrusiob groove.

Print settings:

  • Voron recommended settings and materials.
  • Alternatively, I printed mine out of PETG with 20% infill, 3 perimeters.

Note:

The Software part remains to be done :)
