Description

What is this?

This is basically a template to hold the board with the header pins themselves and, at the same time, ensure the contact of the header pins with the plated through-holes.

There is the basic file, which can be modified for any board, and from it there can be a lot of accessories made. It's up to anyones imagination.

Who is this for?

This is ideal for new makers that want to get their FIRST project out without the need to know how to solder.

For anyone who wants to test their code with Dupont cables, and then solder the same exact board in a PCB that isn't designed for header pins.

What are some examples of accessories that can be made from this?

-First of all a base for securing it with M3 screws, in my case, to 12mm MDF wood.

-A template to mark the holes of the base, and drill them.

-Because this is 3D printed, it can be integrated in any 3D printed project, like an arcade hitbox.

-And if what you want is to solder the header pins, there is a version of the template made just for holding it in place

How to assemble it?

1-First you introduce the nuts into the holes. Because the board will be placed covering the holes

2-Then you slide the header pins from under the template but only enough to see the tip of them.

3-This will let you place the board and with the little bit of extra space, align the header pins with the plated throught-holes.

4-After placing the board you will push the header pins a little bit more to ensure contact and enough pressure to keep the board in place.

The philosophy of the design:

Designed to be printed in place without supports.

Ensure that the board can be upside down, shaken and vibration resistant (because I will smash those hitbox buttons).

Designed to be printed in the lowest quality with the most basic 3D printer.

Designed to be printed in PLA.

How can it be adapted to any board?

The only thing worth mentioning is:

The extra space in the header pins' holes is to ensure a tight fit by flexing the material a little bit, without the need of calculating high tolerances.
