MOLLE Phone Mount

About This Design

Note: Thingiverse wouldn't allow me to officially remix the original file, but I want to give a massive shoutout to the creator of the original work that made this possible.

Original Design: Flat MOLLE Mount for Phone by Urban_Gorilla_Communications

Print 1x of each part and 6x of the case_to_cover_connector. I recommend heating case_to_cover_connectors.stl on print bed and press fitting them in. You can also glue them.

Modifications

My main modifications to the original design were focused on strength and usability:

* Horizontal Printing: Modified the geometry to lay flat for increased layer strength.

* Camera Usability: Customized the layout so the phone's camera can still be actively used.

* Case Mounting: Adapted the mount to use a camera case instead of the original straps.

Print Settings & Materials

I printed this in a combination of PA6-CF and PA6-GF to match my plate carrier.

* Walls: 2

* Infill: 30%

* Layer Height: 0.16

Tip: Use your experience with your specific printer and material to tweak the settings. Mine came out extremely strong; the phone is actually difficult to remove.

Future Improvements

I have a few tweaks in mind for future iterations or feel free to implement improvements yourself by remixing:

* Hinge Geometry: Modify the holder geometry to completely eliminate the need for supports near the hinge.

* Pin Redesign: The current pin is still awfully thin for my taste. Using a 4mm brass rod/pin would likely be preferable, as M4 screws of that length can be harder to source.

* Phone Removal: Add thumbholes (or a similar feature) to the TPU phone case to make it easier to pop the phone out.

* Elastic Pull Tab: If you want to add a pull tab for the elastic, I highly recommend looking into(https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5782754) by santalemuroff. This may require a little bit of geometry modification but I have used these tabs in other projects.
