Description

Wall Mount for Remote Controls

This is a fully customizable, 3D-printable wall mount designed to securely hold remote controls. Because remotes come in many shapes and sizes, this model is completely parametric. By modifying the provided parameters in OpenSCAD, you can generate a custom-fit holder for almost any remote.

The design features a flared upper chamfer and a scooped front to allow for easy insertion and removal of the device. It mounts cleanly to the wall using a single screw, with an internal countersink to ensure the screw head sits flush and does not scratch the remote. Rear standoffs ensure the mount rests firmly against the wall without wobbling.

Recommended Print Settings

* Orientation: Print the model upright (standing on its bottom face). This ensures the structural integrity of the front wall against pulling forces.

* Perimeters/Walls: Use 3 to 4 perimeters (wall lines) for increased strength, which is more effective than high infill.

* Supports: Minimal supports are required only for the rear standoffs and the screw hole. The main hollow body prints without internal supports.

* Material: PETG is recommended for its flexibility and strong layer adhesion, though PLA works fine for standard use.

Parameters

Remote Dimensions

* `max_width`: The overall width of your remote control.

* `depth_center`: The thickness (depth) of your remote at its thickest point in the middle.

* `offset_front_edge`: Defines the curvature of the front face (sagitta). A value of 0 means a flat front; a higher value creates a deeper curve.

* `offset_back_edge`: Defines the curvature of the back face (sagitta).

Holder Geometry

* `holder_height`: The total absolute height of the mount at the back wall.

* `side_offset`: The distance from the top edge (`holder_height`) down to the top of the side walls.

* `front_offset`: The distance from the top edge (`holder_height`) down to the lowest point of the front cutout.

* `wall_thickness`: The thickness of the printed shell. (Default is 2; increase to 3 for heavier devices).

* `wall_gap`: The length of the rear standoffs, determining how far the main body sits from the wall.

* `tolerance`: Additional clearance added to the inner pocket so the remote slides smoothly. (Default is 0.6; adjust based on your printer's dimensional accuracy).

Mounting Hardware

* `hole_dist_top`: The distance from the top edge of the mount down to the center of the screw hole.

* `screw_hole_diameter`: The diameter of the main screw thread.

* `countersink_diameter`: The diameter of the screw head to ensure it can pass through the front gap and sit recessed in the back wall.
