Description

A simple 3D-printable tightening tool for 22mm push-button switches, shared by Baywatt.

This tool is designed to tighten the rear mounting nut of a 22mm panel-mount push button more easily. It is especially useful for pre-wired push-button switches, where standard tools can twist, pull, or block the cables during installation.

The model is designed for 3D printing with 60° angles, so no support is needed in normal print orientation. For occasional use, standard infill should be enough. For regular workshop or daily use, I recommend printing it with 100% infill for better strength and durability.

The handle base has been reinforced to provide enough torque when mounting the switch onto a panel.

This tool is suitable for 22mm push-button switches, whether pre-wired or not. The rear opening provides clearance for wires, including push buttons with epoxy-sealed cable leads. It should also work with many switches fitted with a rear connector. I tested it with my own 22mm push buttons and it works well.

This is a practical installation tool, not a calibrated torque tool. Tighten by hand and avoid over-tightening plastic nuts or switch threads.

I have not made a 19mm push-button version yet, but I may try it later. An open-side version could also be useful when replacing an already installed switch, especially to avoid cutting or disconnecting cables.
