Bike Trailer Rail Mount – TPU Flexible Mount for Uneven Surfaces

This is a modular rail mount system designed for mounting a railing or rail structure onto a bike trailer.

The parts were specifically developed to compensate for uneven surfaces (e.g. dented aluminum boxes) and to provide a durable, vibration-resistant connection.

The design is optimized for flexible materials like TPU, which allows the mount to adapt to imperfect surfaces without introducing excessive stress into the parts.

Printing:

• Material: TPU recommended
• Walls: 5 perimeters
• Wall thickness: ~2 mm
• Infill: ~20% (3D honeycomb or similar)

3MF file includes optimized print settings (for BambuLab A1).

Notes:

Originally printed in ASA-CF, but long-term stress due to uneven mounting surfaces caused potential failure risks. TPU solved this issue by providing flexibility and stress relief.

Designed for a custom-built bike trailer with an aluminum box and railing system.
