Description

This is a 3D-printable replacement main drive gear for the DVD mechanism in the Toshiba MW20FN1 TV/VCR/DVD combo unit (and likely other similar Toshiba combo models). This gear mounts onto the main motor shaft and is responsible for driving multiple functions of the DVD mechanism, including disc intake/eject and laser movement.

The original gear is typically made of nylon and commonly becomes brittle with age, eventually cracking or splitting. This can lead to issues such as failure to load/eject discs, clicking noises, or a non-functional drive. This replacement restores proper operation of the DVD drive system.

Important Fitment Note:

This gear is designed as a press-fit / friction-fit onto the motor shaft. It should install tightly and remain secure during operation. Your printer should be well-calibrated (especially flow and dimensional accuracy). The gear should not slide on easily or spin freely. If the fit is too tight, carefully sand or ream the inner bore until it presses on firmly.

Print Notes:

Filament: PETG or stronger is strongly recommended. Nylon is ideal if available. PLA is not recommended due to wear and brittleness.

Orientation: Print flat on the build plate with one face down for best gear accuracy.

Supports: Not required.

Infill: 50–100% recommended for strength and reliable power transfer.

Perimeters: 3–4 walls for strong teeth and hub.

Post-processing: Lightly adjust the center bore if needed for fitment. Ensure the gear installs straight and spins true without wobble.
