Description

Hi all, this is my model for putting a ram mount behind the dash on a Triumph Rocket 3 GT. Mine is a 2022 model year, but I believe it will work from 2019 on. I am not sure about the R, you'll need to try it and let me know in the comments. If you don't have the new Rocket 3, well, you should print this so you have another reason to buy one. The mount will only cost you about a dollar to print. RAM mount (~$10) and hardware (~$5 to $10) should total another $15-$20. And if you need one, a 2026 Rocket 3 GT will set you back another $26K or so.

This mounts using the top two handlebar clamp bolts. Mine came with longer bolts and some 16mm high plastic washers, but if you have short ones you'll need to get longer ones from the hardware store, along with a bolt and washer to mount the RAM ball. This is designed to work with a RAM size B ball mount that you can get from Amazon. I printed mine in ABS black and decorated it with a design that is evocative of the brand. I can't share that model here because of copyright, so I suggest you search the web for an SVG that you like, import that and this model to Tinkercad, and make your own design.

You will need the following items from the hardware store (recommend stainless steel for the bolts and washer):

1. RAM ball mount - this is the one you need: https://www.amazon.com/RAM-Mounts-Ball-Adapter-RAM-B-337U/dp/B009GLW1PG It has the hex base that will fit into the recess on the mount.

2. A button head 1/4" bolt and inner tooth washer to secure the RAM ball. The bolt will need to be no longer than 17-18mm of thread length.

3. Longer clamp bolts - 50mm of thread is needed

When you print this, you will want to print with the top on the base plate, and the mounting arms facing up. This will minimize the supports needed. You will need supports for the hex recess and the clamp bolt recesses. I used tree supports. I printed with 3 walls, 5 top and bottom layers, and 50% 3D honeycomb infill.

So far, it's pretty sturdy, although with 50% infill there is a small mount of deflection. I will update once I have a lot more miles on the mount. I will be mounting an Android Auto screen there, fairly permanently, once I run the wiring for it.

I designed this in FreeCAD 1.1. I took a 3D scan of my dash and handlebar area (Creality Ferret Pro) and imported that for reference, along with some digital caliper measurements and a few test prints.

I hope you can get some use out of this, leave a like or a comment if it works out for you.
